Maxwell Road planning application

As you know there are plans to build housing on a vacant site on Maxwell Road. You can find out more at: facebook.com/MaxwellRoadPlanning Following the recent public exhibition the applicant has submitted a planning application.

Here are some examples of how people's comments have influenced the design since the previous exhibition:

  • More three-bedroom flats, in response to a request for additional family-sized apartments.
  • Breaking up the buildings to reduce their mass, with openings formed in the centre block and the northernmost block divided in two.
  • More open public space.
  • The floorspace for community use has doubled in size and better addresses the play area.
  • The shop unit on Maxwell Road has increased in size.
  • And with 206 flats and houses proposed, it is significantly under the 261 that the Council's Local Development Plan suggests could be built on the site.

How can you comment on the proposals?

The full planning application is online on the Council's website. Quote the Council's planning application reference number (18/00278/FUL) and the site address "Maxwell Road" in any correspondence. It is likely to take around 4 months for the Council to reach a decision on the application.
